Firstly I would like to congratulate my band members at Oakdale for playing superbly well and finishing 2nd in the Fishguard contest on Saturday 4th October.
The last few months we have had to say goodbye to a few players. James Morris on Bb Bass moved back home to Peterborough and James leaves a huge hole in our band. Phil Comer on Solo Cornet leaves due to other commitments. Phil Parry leaves the 2nd Cornet bench due to ill health. We wish Phil Parry a speedy recovery. Then finally the greatest bandsman to ever grace the brass world, Mr Trevor Mumford. He retires after 65 years of non stop playing on Bb Bass. Trevor's wife has been a Brass Band widow for 62 years of their married life and Trevor now feels he needs to be with her as she suffers poor health. We wish Trevor and Mary all the very best. Trevor is one man that everyone in the Brass Band world will know and also know what he's done for the bands.

We welcome though, a new-comer to our band, Sarah Tanner to the Solo Cornet bench.
Oakdale Silver Band are holding our Annual Concert on Friday 24th October 2014 in Newbridge Comprehensive School hall. Tickets are priced at £4 per person. Our guests are the Abertillery Male Voice Choir. Please come along and enjoy a great night of entertainment.
