Well, I cannot believe that we are getting ready for out last contest of 2013. Blaenavon contest takes place on Saturday 23rd November and we at Oakdale Silver Band are looking forward to it very much so.
We have recently made some new signings to which we welcome Emily Browning, Ellie Szade and a former Oakdale Band member, Toni Fuller (Isgrove) to the back row Cornet bench. We also welcome James Morris to the Bb Bass section, but unfortunately James is unable to play in the Blaenavon contest due to family commitments.
We say thank you to Carl Thomas for signing with the band as cover on 2nd Trombone. It is very much appreciated as you give up your valuable time to come on board with us.
Our Chairperson, Natalie Rogers leaves the playing side of the band as she goes off to have her new baby, which is due towards the end of November. We wish Natalie, Dave and young Cerys all the very best as the prepare for the new arrival.
We are also in the process of looking for a Soprano Cornet player, front row Cornet player and 2nd Percussionist. If anyone is interested in joining a family orientated Brass Band, then please contact me on 07976973961.
