Musical Director's Report

It has been a while now since I last wrote a report for our readers to which I do sincerely apologize to you all.

On Saturday 6th October we traveled to Fishguard in West Wales for the West Wales Brass Band Contest to which we were placed 2nd. Then on Friday 19th October we had our Annual concert which was very successful. I would like to thank the Cefn Hengoed Ladies Choir for their performance to which was of a very high standard.

Last Saturday (26th November) was the last Contest of this current season. The Contest took place in Blaenavon to which again we were placed 2nd. We also finished in 2nd place for the year to which we gained promotion to the 3rd section. I have to thank all my bandsmen/women for the excellent way in which we have played this year and with all the hard work that is put in week in, week out.

Overall 2012 has been a very successful year for Oakdale Silver Band. We are a band heading in the right direction. We look forward to 2013. Thank you to all my band members for your support once again during 2012.

As this is the last report before Christmas, I would like to wish all our supporters and readers a very Happy Christmas and hope 2013 will be another great year.
